Moana Pool Grand Opening
The Moana Springs Community Aquatics & Fitness Center is finally open to the public! After many years of fundraising, Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics opened the new facility in early September. The gorgeous facility features a 12-foot-deep competition pool, a multi-use pool complete with a lazy river and slide, an outdoor soaking pool for those hot summer days, a second level fitness center adjacent to a second level viewing area, spacious locker rooms, and a general use multipurpose room. The mechanical systems are no less impressive and feature seven semi-custom hw/dx air handling units, two Dectron dehumidifier systems, two 1.5 million BTUh high efficiency condensing boilers, a snow melt system, and fabric-duct air distribution systems for the notoriously harsh, humid conditions of a natatorium (commercial pool building). The community pool center replaces the old Moana Pool which closed almost 20 years ago and provides the community a much-needed aquatic center. Ainsworth Associates Mechanical Engineers provided the mechanical and plumbing engineering and is proud to have worked alongside VanWoert Bigotti Architects and CORE Construction on this beautiful project.
