A Group of Eggcellent Nerds
As we closed out our fiscal year this last fall, we reminded ourselves that none of this is worth doing if we can’t have a little fun along the way. So, at our End of Year party, we donned our Halloween costumes, ran to the liquor store, and participated in a science competition. This year’s annual competition involved the classic egg drop challenge where a fixed supply list was used to generate “landing devices” that were dropped from an elevated balcony with the goal of protecting the egg inside while also trying to achieve the fastest fall speeds and best looking contraptions (that’s right architects, we do care about aesthetics). After a tense hour-long build-window, the team competed in a round-robin style competition. After all the hard work and comradery, it came as no surprise that one of our team leads, Mr. Matt Wieland PE, edged out the competition to take home the winning title with a nice looking “inverted pyramid” design that provided an enhanced crumple zone with access door for egg viewing. Congratulations Matt, but as importantly, we extend our deepest gratitude to the entire AAME team for another successful year.
