Since Before You Were Even Born
The story gets a little fuzzy, understandably, but in November of 1980, our esteemed Associate Mr. Greg Maestas, CPD started a part time drafting gig working for his father at the Reno office of JBA Consulting Engineers (now an NV5 Company). With the firm supporting aggressive growth in both Northern and Southern Nevada, Greg, a freshman at UNR at the time, was plugged in to the world of design early on and learned in the trenches by helping work on the Reno-Cannon International Airport (now the Reno-Tahoe International Airport) Concourse Expansion (still in use to this day), Sparks Fire Department HQ Building, as well as a handful of prototype elementary schools for Washoe County School District. After JBA closed their Reno office in 1983, Greg continued with school. In January 1986 Greg went to work for William “Pete” Peterson at Peterson and Associates Mechanical Engineers in Reno, NV, reuniting with others from the former JBA Reno office. Excelling at the HVAC and Plumbing design skill set, along with helping the firm tackle an industry transition from hand drafting to Computer Aided Drafting and Design, Greg spent several decades as a project manager working on hundreds of complex design projects for the University, School District, State of Nevada, and similar commercial Clients alike. When Ainsworth Associates merged with Peterson and Associates in June 2006, Greg brought his love of the design process and appreciation of attention to detail to a whole new generation of young professionals. Through leadership, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to accuracy, Greg continues to uphold a high standard of quality design that our Clients have come to expect. Congratulations and thank you, Greg, for over 40 years of excellence in the Nevada Building Design and Construction scene. We look forward to your leadership for years to come!
