WCSD CTE Internship

AAME had the honor of participating in a new venture with Washoe County School District which aims to introduce local high school students to careers in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. The program takes place over an entire semester and involves students from all corners of the district who are looking ahead to their bright futures and want to know more about the design and construction of commercial buildings. The students worked their way from shop to shop and spent a few weeks with each major design discipline – architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical – working to design an actual mock building up at the TMCC campus. The mechanical classes highlighted three major components of our design process – hand load calcs, sketch routing and sizing of the duct system, and sketch routing and sizing of the major plumbing systems. Shout-out to VanWoert Bigotti Architecture, J-U-B Civil Engineers, CFBR Structural Engineers, and PK Electrical for the partnership and collaboration in this venture, and we can’t wait to see what these kids can do! (Don’t forget to grab a business card on your way out the door and hit us up after college graduation)
